Boys, girls to face off in soccer

The second annual Blue and Silver game will take place Friday at 6 p.m. on the West Shore soccer field. Student tickets are $2, and adult tickets are $4.

“The game is a fundraiser so we can have money for things like tournaments,” Varsity Coach John Krehbiel said. “It is a sort of way to get the school to come out to our soccer games. They are like Friday night football at other schools, or it’s the closest we’ve got.”

The JV boys will play against the JV girls in the first half, and the varsity boys will play against the varsity in the second half.

“It’s a good way to unite the program for fundraising new equipment, and it’s always interesting to see our teams in a friendly competition,” senior Nabil Motlagh said.

After players score goals, there will be games that audience members can participate in.

“Blue and Silver allows us to interact with the crowd through goal celebrations,” Motlagh said. “In regular-season games, discipline by the referees doesn’t allow us to do that.”
