Boys’ basketball tryouts Oct. 29

Tryouts for the varsity and junior varsity basketball teams have been scheduled for Oct 29, and returning team captain Scott Adams said he has high expectations based on what he’s seen during the past two months of preseason conditioning sessions.

“We’re physically stronger and have a low-post presence we were missing last season,” he said. “We hope to go further in district play.”

The varsity team will again be led by head coach Tony Riopelle and assistant Robert Salazar along with help from first year junior varsity coach Gregg Buttrick, who recently led the middle-school boys’ team to a 7-2 record, setting the school mark for most victories in a single season.

Last year the varsity boys finished 10-16. The Wildcats open preseason play on Nov 13, against Brevard Christian in the Heritage Preseason Classic.
