Bowlers close out season at Districts

Seniors Brandon Toothaker, Derek D’ Esposito and Logan Moletteire led the boys’ bowling team to a sixth-place finish in the District tournament at Palm Bay’s Shore Lanes last Tuesday. The girls’ team, led by senior Nicole Machon, placed eighth.

“I felt like I did OK, but not the best I could have,” Toothaker said.

Bayside, Palm Bay, Heritage, Covenant Christian, Melbourne High, Eau Gallie High School, and Satellite also competed in the tournament.

“The teams played well,” Coach Kirk Murphy said. “I know the boys are upset that I played every member of the team, but it was the last chance for some of the athletes and I did not want to have them miss that opportunity. I may not be the best coach because I am more concerned about everyone participating and having fun. Winning is nice, but I believe there are more important things.”

Murphy said he is already is looking to the future.

“The season is now over and I start thinking about next year,” Murphy said. “I lose all of my girls but one, so I will need quite a few bowlers for next year.”
