Principal Rick Fleming presents the 2015 Jefferson Award to Margarita Cruz-Sanchez for her hours spent doing volunteer work. “I am a teacher’s assistant at my church, I volunteer at the zoo, I do mission trips at places like Honduras, and I work at the local hospital,” Cruz-Sanchez said. “I’d never heard of [the award] at all. It was such a surprise, my hands were shaking. I didn’t believe that I was getting recognized for [my volunteer work].” Cruz-Sanchez said she still has many hours of volunteer work ahead of her.

"We've had no issues, no snafus. Everything's been running smoothly, and we've been getting kids to class on time.”](https://westshoreroar.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/IMG_9979-1200x800.jpg)
