King Cake

Dressed as royalty, eighth grader Jett M. watches the French musical Romeo and Juliet as he finishes his winning piece of King Cake. Every year to celebrate Mardi Gras, French students bring in a King Cake, which has a ceramic baby hidden inside, and whoever finds the baby in their piece gets to be king or queen for the day. “I just bit into the cake and found it,” Jett said about finding the baby. “It was really surprising, sudden even.”
