Daphnia disturbance
February 16, 2012
During anatomy class, senior Vivian Taylor examines the heart rate of a daphnia, which is a tiny crustacean, under a microscope. “It was cool to see little creatures’ hearts beating through their clear little bodies,” Taylor said. Students examined the differences in heart rates after being exposed to nicotine, alcohol, aspirin, caffeine, and a sleep aid.
