Spanish Honor ponders field trip

Walking through an old jail, searching for the fountain of youth and riding on a ghost trolly are just some of the things Spanish Honor Society members could experience if they are able to pull off a November field trip to St. Augustine.

Freshman Lauren Novak, along with the rest of the members of Spanish Honor Society, are hoping to possibly go on the field trip to St. Augustine at the end of November.

“I’m looking forward to possibly going to St. Augustine to learn more about the Spanish culture and to serve my community through this society,” she said.

In addition to the possible field trip to St. Augustine, an international fiesta and inductions of new members are future events that the Spanish Honor Society will host.

“I’m looking forward to the fiesta at the end of the year because it’s always a fun experience and hopefully the St. Augustine field trip,” said senior Rachel Alba, secretary of Spanish Honor Society. “The fiesta is fun because everyone gets to sample a variety of international foods while enjoying musical and dance performances. So far we have not faced any obstacles. We are just planning for the induction ceremony and fund-raising for the international fiesta.”

Inductions of new members will take place Nov. 4 in the media center after school.

“I’m excited,” Novak said, “because after inductions, I will officially be a part of Spanish Honor Society. From then on, I will be able to fully participate in this year’s projects.”
