Sandwich fund-raiser exceeds expectations

The Senior Class took in $1,614 from a recent fund-raiser sponsored by Jersey Mike’s Subs. Senior class officers and supporters received the check Wednesday after school at the Hibiscus Road restaurant.

“It was awesome to know how much the senior class was willing to come together to fund-raise so much money to benefit us in the future,” Class President Callia Karas said.

Prior to the fund-raiser Senior Class officers handed out tickets for a free sub with a minimum $3 donation that could be redeemed at the sandwich shop.

“About 15 people showed up to receive the check,” Karas said. “I was happy with the turnout. Any support from the Senior Class is appreciated.”

Senior Class sponsor Jill Whitacre said she was pleased with the results.

“We got more money out of the fund-raiser than the efforts we put in,” she said. “All we did was pass out cards and remind them to redeem them at Jersey Mike’s. It was not a lot of physical effort.”
