Ooh, la, la — It’s French Week

French teachers throughout the country, including Jennifer Walker, will celebrate the annual National French Week with their students beginning Nov. 4.

“The purpose is to celebrate French culture and to promote the study of the French language,” Walker said.

The event, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, includes a different French-inspired theme each day. However, the celebration is not limited to students taking French.

“Any students that are involved in French classes, members of French Honor Society, or those who just want to celebrate French can participate,” Walker said.

Sophomore Emma Kalvan said she enjoys participating in French Week because it’s an exciting way to appreciate the French language.

“I’m looking forward to it every year, specifically Mardi Gras day,” she said. “It’s the most fun to dress up for.”

The themes for the week are as follows: Monday — Roméo et Juliette, Tuesday — Mardi Gras, Wednesday — Le Français Classique, Thursday —  Médiéval and Friday — Film Français.
