In a departure from a longstanding tradition, Dean Stewart Photography has informed Student Government Association it will not be taking formal pictures at the Oct. 1 Homecoming dance.
“Due to decreasing sales, we just cannot afford to send a team out,” Denise Mattiace of DSP wrote in an e-mail to SGA. “There has been a sharp decline in the demand for these type of pictures over the last few years until it actually became costly to us.”
In addition, DSP no longer will supply Student Government with tickets and napkins for the dance. SGA was able to find a different supplier for tickets and made the choice to not order napkins. The club has also hired a different photographer to cover the event.
“There will be no formal couple pictures,” SGA President Bianca Taraschi said. “We will have a photographer who will be taking candid shots throughout the night and the pictures will be available for sale the following week or two.”
