NHS shoe box event deemed a success

National Honor Society members recently collected in shoe boxes filled with toys and school supplies to send to underprivileged children in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe Members earned five NHS points for every shoe box donated.

“The shoe boxes were huge,” NHS Sponsor Melissa Henderson said. “The whole back of my room was filled with shoe boxes.”

Margarita Cruz-Sanchez organized the event because her church was promoting it.

However, not everyone was able to donate.

“I was planning on donating a shoe box but see what had happened was I had a lot of work to do and I kind of forgot,” Sophomore Class President Moses Chavez- Gray said.

Other NHS members,  including  junior Haley Yorio, were unaware of the event.

“I never even heard of shoe boxes or anything related to the matter,” Yorio said.

Upcoming activities are to be announced in the near future.

“We are going to let our leaders propose what activities they want to do for the second semester and see how that plays out,” Henderson said.
