NHS honors custodians with cleanup, meal
February 23, 2011
Have you ever wondered what it would be like being a janitor for a day? National Honor Society members found out Wednesday when they recognized the school custodians with a display of appreciation.
“We are going to help clean, then after feed [the custodians] dinner,” NHS sponsor Sherie Jenkins said before the event.
After cleaning rooms and tidying up the campus, NHS members and custodians met in the cafeteria for a pizza dinner.
“The importance is to show that we value what the [custodians] do. We should clean up the mess that we make when we eat, but we don’t. We should be able to do this ourselves, but we don’t,” NHS president Kaitlyn Hoskovec said. “We always see how hard they work every day to keep this school clean, so its a good way to appreciate all the hard work that they do.”
According to Jenkins, approximately 70 NHS members attended the event.
