Military supply drive set for December

National Junior Honor Society members are decorating boxes and posters in anticipation of a military supply drive scheduled for Dec. 1-16.

During Veterans Day week, members spent hours covering boxes with flags and bows to catch the attention of students with the potential to donate. The boxes also include  a list of needed supplies to make sure the message is clear.

“[Decorating the boxes] is a wonderful idea,” NJHS Historian Amanda Moscrip said, “because the homeroom teachers will know what to tell students to bring in and who it will benefit.”

Students in each homeroom  are being asked to collect toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving cream, facial wipes and personal hygiene products.

“Some people will be attracted, and their attention will be drawn [to the drive],” NJHS member Hannah Brusca said.

On Nov. 28, the 40-plus posters will blanket the campus with the American flag. Club member Zuri Lawrence says she’s proud of the effort.

“We have wonderful people behind it, I’ll tell you that,” she said.
