Match-O-Matics proves successful for Junior Class

With the passing of Valentine’s Day, the Junior Class recently completed it’s annual “Match-o-Matics” fund-raiser to help offset the cost of Prom tickets. After filling out a questionnaire, students could purchase their “matches” to find students who answered similarly to them along with other facts such as celebrities with similar interests and shared birthdays.

According to Junior Class President Devin Thrush, the fund-raiser caters more towards younger students.

“I believe the Match-o-Matics fund-raiser was a hit,” Thrush said. “Seventh- and eighth-graders every year are always super involved with this fund-raiser as they’re still developing relationships with their classmates, so we were able to count on them to buy their matches.”

Freshman Alex Spak said the target audience is too small.

“It’s a good fund-raiser idea, but I think they appeal more to little kids compared to older kids because I just don’t see that many older students running around talking about who they matched with,” Spak said.

According to Thrush, more fund-raisers are on the way.

“We have been trying to allow every person from all groups to participate in this year’s activities and fund-raisers,” Thrush said. “So far, the Junior Class has raised about $6,000 and we are still planning more fund-raisers such as a volleyball tournament in March and a Super Smash Bros tournament in April. We have been trying to allow every person from all groups to participate in this year’s activities and fund-raisers so it’s somewhat enjoyable.”
