Landmesser voted Employee of the Year

Student Resource Officer Chuck Landmesser received a call on his radio Monday to rush to math teacher Susan Orton’s room because a student was in need of medical attention.

“When I got in the room, the nurse was there and  there was a student on the floor and both were smiling,” Landmesser said. “At that point I figured something was up and then they made the announcement.”

Caught by a surprise, Landmesser said receiving the Employee of the Year award started his week off the right way.

“It was kind of humbling for me,” he said. “It’s nice to know that I’m having an impact here on the students and faculty.”

While faculty and staff members vote on the award each year, they’re not the only ones to show appreciation for Landmesser.

“He’s always been really good with helping students if they ever need anything,” junior Sierra Purden said,  “He is always open if you need help with something to anyone. You could say he’s always on the job.”

Landmesser will continue to the next step and fill out paperwork and packets to be in the running for the Brevard County School District Employee of the Year.

“It was a very nice recognition,” Landmesser said. “I’m just happy.”
