Food drive scheduled for next week

The National Junior Honor Society is preparing for its annual Food 4 Thought drive which scheduled for next week.

The Food 4 Thought drive collects non-perishable foods and distributes them to local food assistance programs, including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, shelter programs and senior programs.

On Friday, decorated donation boxes will be distributed to classrooms.

NJHS Treasurer Robby Benezra said he is excited and hopeful for a success food drive.

“It’s a good cause since the food goes to families with young kids like us who are unable to afford food,” he said. “I helped out with last year’s Food for Thought drive when I brought in about five boxes.”

Communications Officer Kishan Ghayal said his expectations are higher this year because of an influx of new members.

“Food 4 Thought last year was relatively successful, but we could definitely improve,” he said.
