A fund-raiser will be held at tonight’s Powderpuff game for Brevard County Sheriff Agent Casey Smith, who was shot multiple times while trying to make an arrest near Cocoa on Aug. 20.

“We’ve seen fund-raisers at other high schools during their football games,” School Resource Officer Chuck Landmesser said. “So I thought ‘why don’t we do this at Powderpuff because it’s basically our equivalent to football games.’”

A collection table will be set up near the concession stand.

“We’ll have a jar or something out there and a parent volunteer and hopefully we’ll get a lot of donations and pass it on to the fund-raising group that is helping out with Agent Smith,” Landmesser said.
