New bowling coach brings new tactics

The bowling team continues to soar with the addition of Coach Thomas Mead, who has brought a more rigorous approach to training.

“We’re getting better, we’re improving,” Mead said. “I really think the team is improving. At first when I took over, I really wasn’t sure what I had gotten myself into, but now things are definitely smoothing out.”

Mead’s style stems from his years of coaching baseball at Eau Gallie High School, where the sport was taken very seriously.

“I used to coach for baseball and if you don’t perform, there’s a punishment,” Mead said. “You don’t take it easy. I didn’t find this when I came to this team, which I’m beginning to understand.”

The change in coaching has been taken surprisingly well by members of the bowling team, who have been used to a more laid-back approach in past years.

“Mr Mead has given us some really good tips,” senior Sonya Foster said. “He knows what he’s doing and he’s good at it, so we’re all doing a lot better this year.”
