Upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie gains the attention of students

The “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie was first announced in April 2015, and after many years of complications, it will be released in theaters Oct. 27. The horror film will follow a security guard as he begins to work at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. As his first night on the job continues, he realizes that it won’t be an easy one.

“I’m excited,” sophomore Robert Santiago said. “I’m going with all my friends. I think it’s going to be a really good time. I don’t think it’s going to be that good, but I think it’s going to be so bad it’s good. I think it’s going to be cheesy.”

The new movie is based on the video game franchise that debuted in 2014. After gaining fans over the years, the movie is leaving them with expectations, according to Santiago.

“It’s scary, and I hope that it tries to portray that scariness,” Santiago said. “Obviously because it’s PG-13, you’re not going to be able to go all the way.”

As a long-time fan of the video game, Santiago said he is excited to see the characters from the game on the big screen.

“I’m so excited to see Freddy Fazbear,” Santiago said. “Also, I’m curious what their portrayal of William Afton would be.”

Freshman Rayah Chapman said she is looking forward to seeing her favorite characters come to life.

“I’m excited to see Foxy because that has been my favorite since I was a kid,” Chapman said. “Also, probably Golden Freddy, because that’s one of the OGs.”

Chapman said she is hopeful for the continuation of the concept of the game to the big screen.

“There’s nothing like this as a horror movie,” Chapman said. “People have tried, but it’s never been ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ in itself, so it’s a newer type of film coming.”
