Thespians prepare for upcoming state competition

West Shore’s Thespian troupe 6034 will travel to State Thespian Festival on March 16 to March 20. Students who did well in Individual Events at district will get the chance to perform at state where they will compete with schools from around the state.

Junior Adam Davidson will be performing in One Act  from “In a Strange Land,” and in Large Group with “Step in Time” from “Marry Poppins,” and Small Group with “What a Game” from “Rag Time.”

“I’m excited this year because I’m doing Junior Scholarship auditions, which is nerve-wracking. I’m also excited to perform and hang out with my friends,”  he said.

There have been slight complications for the troupe  with their loss of sophomore Mackenzie Roche, who had been preforming in many of the events leading up to state. Roche moved to Italy at the end of first semester.

“Well we don’t have him for our small group (“What a Game”); and he was one of our main people, so we had to move people.  That didn’t hinder it exactly, but it wad inconvenient,”  senior Will Niemmeier said.

Senior Mia Glatter remains enthusiastic about the upcoming performances.

“I’m most excited about preforming our large group “Step in Time,” because we got cheated at districts,” Glatter said.

Proceeds from “Night of Broadway” and “South Pacific” will help pay for the trip.
