Hoping to have a true fall experience, sophomore Alysa Taylor and her family traveled to Georgia on their first Thanksgiving vacation.

After an eight-and-a-half hour drive, the family made it to Gainesville, a small town in northern Georgia. Due to the size of the town, many of the shops and restaurants were closed on Thanksgiving. The Taylors ended up eating at IHOP for dinner. However, they did eventually get a taste of the local cuisine.

“My favorite place we ate at was at a little burger joint called The Varsity,” Taylor said. “My dad had told me about it before we went and it was cool that we were able to go because he used to go as a kid.” 

On Friday Taylor took a tram to the top of Stone Mountain.

“Everything I saw was really beautiful, especially since I’ve never been to Georgia or seen a “real” fall, but I’d have to say Stone Mountain was my favorite,” Taylor said. “I thought it was so cool to be able to go to the top and look out into the city part of Atlanta and see fall trees everywhere. ”

The family then decided to go to the World of Coca-Cola where they participated in interactive activities, however things went downhill from there.

“I got sick, so the ride home was pretty rough,” Taylor said. “It was a long drive with no stops.”
