After closely following all the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies, sophomore Mattie Menzie anxiously awaits the arrival of the newest addition to the wizarding world, “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”.

 “I am super-excited to watch the new Fantastic Beasts movie,” Menzie said. “ I love to watch both the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies with my family.”

The Fantastic Beasts movies are prequels to the Harry Potter films and follow a wizard named Newt Scamander as he goes on adventures and discovers mythical creatures. “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” will be the third Fantastic Beasts film after “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald (2017)”. Menzie said she is looking forward to seeing which characters from the previous movies will make a return.

“I am just hoping that all the past characters are in the movie and they are played by the same actors,” Menzie said. “It was hard to tell who is in it based on the trailer.”

Sophomore Dana Zschau, president of the Harry Potter Club, said she is also excited to see some of the returning characters.

“I really enjoyed the past movies as I thought it was entertaining to see all the different creatures and characters,” Zschau said. “Especially young Dumbledore; seeing him so young was my favorite.” 

 Zschau said she is hopeful that the new movie will be just as interesting as the others.

 “I remember completely abandoning my popcorn while watching [the first movie] because I was so invested,” Zschau said. “With the way that the franchise is going, I think this will be on par with the rest of the movies and will not fail to entertain.”

Zschau said the Harry Potter Club plans to watch the film as a group when it enters theaters on Friday.
