Dancers host Zumba fundraiser

The Purrfections dance team will hold a Zumba fundraiser in the auditorium Friday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Zumba is a form of exercise that incorporates dance and Latin music.

“One of our new seventh-grade dancer’s mother approached with the idea,” Coach April Shaw said. “She is friends with the Zumba instructors that will be teaching the class.”

The dance team is raising money for competition fees for the regional dance competition that will be held at Seminole High School in Sanford.

According to Shaw, the dance team needs to raise an additional $700 in order for both teams to compete.

Tickets for students will cost $5 and $10 for adults. Also water and baked goods will be sold at the event.

“I think it will be fun and a really good fundraiser,” freshman and varsity dance team member Erin Sheridan said. “Also it is going to be a great way to get some exercise.”
