Band to play spring concert at SHS

Band is hosting a free concert at the Satellite High auditorium Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Beginning band, advanced band, wind ensemble and jazz band will all be performing together.

Director Carol Allen said the band is using Satellite’s auditorium because it’s bigger, and West Shore’s auditorium can’t fit all the musicians into it.

A wide rang of music will be played, including songs from the movies “Harry Potter,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “E.T.” While the performance rights for the music comes out of the band’s budget, the band does not charge for the event.

“We solicit donations, but it’s free,” Allen said.

Performing at Satellite is new to the musicians, who usually play in Eau Gallie High School’s auditorium.

“I’m unsure really how it’s going to turn out,” junior Jamie Cox said. “It feels like we didn’t have that much time to practice.”

Band members have been practicing for about three weeks.
