Band winter concert comes Wednesday
The holiday season is fast approaching, and band members have been preparing for the winter concert for months. Beginning band, advanced band, wind ensemble and jazz band will be playing a few Hanukkah and Christmas pieces to help people get in the holiday spirit, along with some year-round band songs. The free concert will be on Dec. 11 at the Eau Gallie High School auditorium.
“When it was in [West Shore’s] auditorium, the auditorium was too small to have all of my bands in one night, so I had to do two separate concerts,” band director Carol Allen said. “I didn’t like that because my younger kids never got to see the older bands. I want them to see what they have to look forward to when they get older and are able to be in the older bands.”
Sophomore Jordan Stowers has performed at the concert in the past, and looks forward to performing with wind ensemble and jazz band this year.
“I performed with the advanced band last year, and we didn’t do too bad,” Stowers said. “I listened to wind ensemble and jazz band, and they were amazing! I used to be really nervous and shaky [before performing], but now I just look forward to performing with my band.”
