With season over, swim team looks toward next year

With regional’s behind them and state competition out of reach, the boys’ and girls’ swim teams have begun looking toward next season. At regionals, the girls’ team placed 10th and the boys team placed 12th, both out of 23 teams. Both teams improved from last year, when the girls placed 11th and the boys placed 15th overall at regionals.

“Next year looks really good,” sophomore Dustin Heuser said. “All of our relays are coming back next season, so that looks really good going forward. Hopefully, with our relays being strong. we can do better at districts and regionals.”

Next year the team will have eight returning seniors, including Morgan Stewart.

“With all of the seniors that are returning next year we should have an awesome season,” she said. “We have very strong leaders in our seniors, and they will get this team on a great season going ahead.”

Sophomore Phoebe Theophelis said she’s encouraged.

“I’m really excited to see the improvement next season of the swimmers,” she said. “We have a really strong young team, so the next couple of years we should be able to do better at districts and regionals.”
