Senior Grace Bryant shows off her best in show piece as teacher Jim Finch looks on.

Following the primary art show of the year, West Shore took home six of the major seven awards last week. West Shore had the top 3 finishers in the illustration division, and first and third place in the photography division, along with Best of Show.

In the illustration division, Gillian Weaver took third place with “Mushroom Ladies,” James Reid took second with “City Scape” and Grace Bryant took first with “Shadow Shooter.” West Shore also had two honorable mentions with Christian Hayes’ “Chairs on the Beach” and Joshua Breininger’s “Color.”

As for photography, Katherine Etherton took third with “Wired” and Kaleigh McCollough took first place with “Taste Like Purple.” Megan Mateosky earned an honorable mention for “Dynamo.”

Teacher Jim Finch was especially pleased with the results in photography given that West Shore does not offer a photography class. He also added it just speaks to how talented his students are.

Finally, Best of Show was awarded to Grace Bryant with her “Observation” illustration.
