This week marks the unofficial beginning of the basketball season and  varsity coach Tony Riopelle likes what he sees.

“We are older this year with five seniors and some returning players,” Riopelle said. “We are able to do more advanced drills and the players understand how to work hard.”

The boys’ team will be headed down to St. Edwards School in Vero Beach for preseason tournament on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, the Wildcats will be take on Jensen Beach.

The regular season opens Monday at Space Coast followed by a Wednesday game at Cocoa.

“Next Friday is a rivalry game with [Fort Pierce] John Carroll Catholic High School in the West Shore gym as the Wildcats first home game,” Riopelle said.
