Varsity boys edge Heritage 37-36

The varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Heritage High 37-36 Monday night.

“There were plenty of areas to improve in but with some players still in quarantine, I feel good about executing our goals for the season,” senior Laith Rukab said.

Junior C.J. Coyle seemed to agree with Rukab.

“We didn’t play our absolute best as a team and we didn’t have our head coach but we still ended up coming out with the win,” he said.

The coronavirus already has disrupted the young season.

“COVID-19 is making it really tough on us this year especially with players having to quarantine in and out and other teams canceling on us,” Rukab said. “We have had five of our players quarantined already just from school interactions which has been annoying. The gym is only allowed to hold half capacity this year as well. I know that will suck for our seniors when Senior Night comes around because the gym won’t be packed like usual. But honestly as a team, we have handled it pretty well and I think we will get through it.
