Tully, D’Esposito, McCoy honored at banquet

Senior Danielle Tully was named Best Offensive Player and junior Victoria D’Esposito Best Defensive Player at the girls’ basketball team end-of-season banquet in the school cafeteria Sunday. Tully won based on her high foul-shooting percentage and scoring, while D’Esposito received the nod for  having the most rebounds on the team.

In addition, senior Kristy McCoy received an award for her 3-point shooting. she now has the most scored 3-pointers in school history.

Though some thought that moving the banquet from an area restaurant to the cafeteria might diminish the event, players and their families found themselves enjoying it.

“At first I was a little disappointed that [the banquet] wasn’t at its normal venue, but it actually turned out to be better,” senior Courtney Barney said.

Mr. Burns, the team dad, made a Powerpoint to remember the season and Pizza Hut catered Tuscani pasta.

“I felt like everyone bonded more with it being in a more casual location and at our own school.  It was definitely a success and that video Mr. Burns made was amazing,” Barney said.

Junior Vinashna Patel said the Powerpoint added to the banquet’s success.

“I thought the banquet was good this year especially the powerpoint.  I think it was a success because the point was to remember a good year of basketball,” Patel said.  “It was emotional at times but definitely good.”
