Track team holds its own at Rockledge

The team landed some scoring placings, but fell short overall in a meet at Rockledge High on Tuesday night.

“We were able to put together a 4×800 team, which was exciting because I hadn’t gotten to run that race yet this season,” sophomore varsity runner Lexie Krehbiel said. “Of course the best part is we won that race.”

The 4×800 team consisted of Krehbiel, senior Kate Crowley, junior Sarah Day and junior Maegan Muir.

Though the team also scored in several other events, including senior Adam Kline taking the boys’ one-mile race, and Crowley in the girls’ 800-meter run, it did not score enough points overall to win the entire meet.

“Even at our best meet, the chances of winning are low,” Crowley said. “We just don’t have enough people to score as many points as other school.”

But that fact still doesn’t discourage the runners, throwers and jumpers from trying their hardest.

“Even if we don’t win the whole meet, we still can reach our best in our own events and be the best team we can be,” Crowley said.
