Thespians excel at competition

Members of West Shore’s Theater Troupe 6034 brought home several awards from the annual thespian festival from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2. The thespian event includes various competitions including small group musical, solo musical and pantomime.

“I think the competition went really well,” senior Catherine Tenbusch said. “My pantomime got best in show, also juniors Evan Courtney and Dylan O’Bryan’s improv got best in show for individual events.”

The troupe took home many other awards including some best in shows, superiors for the one act and some personal awards such as best featured actress for Catherine Tenbusch, best cameo for Piper Jenkins and all-star cast member for Gianni Valenti.

“My favorite part was when my group and I won best of show in our pantomime,” freshman Christian Lutz said. “Pantomime is when you act out a scene without using words only expressions and sometimes music.”

Tenbusch said the overall experience was enjoyable.

“I always love to perform and as a senior, it’s really fun to support the younger kids and watch them perform their events as well as cheer them on,” Tenbusch said.
