Theme parks to host Christian concerts

“The songs that moves you, the faith is what lifts you. And the rides that thrill you!” This is the motto of Rock the Universe’s set-up this year. Rock the Universe is a Christian concert series at Universal Studios in Orlando on Sept. 7-8. Sixteen bands including Switchfoot, TobyMac, Relient K and Skillet will play on three stages scattered around the park. Universal also has scheduled a candle lighting ceremony at 11:15 p.m at the Music Plaza stage on Saturday, plus a Sunday morning worship service at the Fear Factor Live stage at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Various package deals are available including the Rock Your Weekend offer available through Aug. 31. It includes both nights of Rock the Universe, three full days admission to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, plus park to park access for $109.99 plus tax. Other offers include either the 2 Night Event for $85.99 or the 1 Night Event for $52.99.

Christian music fans can choose to go to Universal Studios or visit its biggest competition, Disney World, for Night of Joy featuring more relaxed Christian headliners. MercyMe, Casting Crowns and Disciple are some of the 16 bands heading up the event.

One-night tickets for either Friday or Saturday may be purchased in advance for $48.95 plus tax or on the day of the show for $62.95.
