Teams seek volunteers, managers

As winter sports seasons kick off, coaches are eager to enlist team managers and student volunteers.

“We just get water, keep stats, run clock, gather balls and sweep floors,” junior Shaye Wilson said about managing basketball. “I do it for BCC service learning so I can opt out on a paper grade.”

Students who manage sports teams can receive a varsity letter or receive community service hours. They also receive the opportunity to become a team member.

“Managers are a crucial part of our basketball team,” Coach Riopelle said.

According to Wilson, being a manager isn’t all hard work.

“I like managing because I hang out with Riopelle; it’s hilarious.” Wilson said. “Bonding with the team and the managers is also really fun.”

Interested students should contact a coach as soon as possible.
