Teams navigate crowded gym before season opener

As the boys’ basketball team prepares to tip off the season at Holy Trinity on Monday, freshman Camden Garoust would like to get more gym time but it’s difficult to get time to train due to the six teams playing every day.

“Practice times are limited because of all the teams playing but, it is what it is,” Garoust said.

Both the girls’ and boys’ middle school, JV and varsity teams all have to fit training in the gym. As a result, girls’ varsity coach Derrick Hamlilton has had to make some changes this year.

“It definitely has affected our training times,” Hamilton said. “I’ve had to communicate with other coaches about the times.”

Despite the training hours, freshman Christian Rebec said just want to play.

“I don’t really care about the time we train, as long as I get to play,” Rebec said.

JV is scheduled to play at 5:30 p.m. Monday and the varsity game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
