Volleyball cooks Kowboys on Senior Night

In a heated match with the Osceola Kowboys, the Lady Wildcats rallied to win in five sets to end regular season home games in their Senior Night on Thursday.

After a loss in the first game 27-25, the team overcame the Lady Kowboys, winning the second, fourth and  last set.

“I was worried after the first fame,” senior Amanda Farthing said. “But after we pulled through in the fifth game, it just was the perfect way to end the night and season.”

With a total of 300 digs and 59 sets throughout the whole season, senior Aalekhya Tenali is third in the district for digs. Also sophomore Casey Schauman is ninth in the district for assists and aces with a total of 249 assists and 44 aces.

The team’s six seniors, Amanda Farthing, Tess Sheets, Kylie Wenger, Alyssa Johnson, Aalekhya Tenali and Diana Sheedy have all played on both the JV and varsity team and have seen the program grow.

“It is surreal that this is going to be our last home game of our high school careers,” senior Captain Tess Sheets said. “I’ve had such a great experience playing with the team at West Shore and it’s going to be really hard saying goodbye.”

The team held its second annual Tailgate Cookout in the courtyard before the match.

“I just feel like it’s crazy that I’ve been playing in this gym since seventh grade,” senior Amanda Farthing said. “Being together with the team has been so great, and I’m going to miss them so much.”
