Two dances, one cheer team

The cheerleaders were all in this together Friday during the JV and varsity basketball games. The teams united as one to put on a performance during both halftimes.

Junior Katelyn Curtis said the performance was smooth with little to no mistakes.

“I think that we all performed really well during halftime, but there is always something that can be fixed or improved upon,” she said.

Seventh-grader Jadyn R., the JV cheer captain, said she felt more confident cheering with the varsity team.

“It was really helpful cheering with cheerleaders that are more experienced because they help me and the [JV] team improve,” she said.

Curtis said there are benefits cheering with the JV team.

“It felt really good performing with JV,” she said. “It felt like we were more of one team rather than two separate teams.”

Curtis said she is excited to perform the dance in the future.

“It’s always fun coming up with something new to show everyone,” Curtis said. “It’s really interesting to see how everyone reacts.”

Jadyn R. said she enjoyed cheering with the varsity team.

“I loved cheering with them, but I felt like I was held to a really high standard,” she said.
