Sophomore Eric Yang leads the boys’ varsity tennis team to a 5-5 record

The boys’ varsity tennis team will face Merritt Island Christian on Tuesday at Merritt Island. The team has a two-game win streak.

Sophomore Eric Yang is the team’s top performer in singles.

“I have a huge leadership role on the team, ensuring everybody is ready for matches, warming up properly and greeting opposing coaches during games,” he said. “As one of the players who have been on varsity for a while, I try to set an example and encourage the team to try their best no matter what. There are tons of things to improve on, but overall, everybody has been playing great and trying their best. I’m personally trying to train harder and get smarter on the court.”

After winning against Cocoa Beach and Titusville, the team is third in the district.

“Now that we have some momentum, we are starting to be more confident as a team,” sophomore Giorgio Rotolo said. “Our schedule looks easy now, and I am confident the team can come together and win some more games. Overall, I am looking forward to having fun on the court and improving my game.”
