Senior scores first varsity goal in 4-0 win

Senior Liam Wiles scores the final goal ending the boys’ game 4-0 against Cocoa Beach Tuesday night.

“Cameron played me a through ball and I ran onto it,” Wiles said. “Then the keeper came flying out so I tapped it past him. It was at a super hard angle but I still shot it, and it rolled past a defender and went in. Then it was like we won the winning goal of states and everyone came off the bench and rushed to me like crazy.”

This was the first varsity goal Wiles has ever scored and his team mates were proud of his accomplishment.

“I was so surprised that Liam scored the goal. It was absolute madness,” junior Ian Leighton said. “Right after he scored, everyone ran up to him and hugged him for scoring his first varsity goal. It was funny because at half time when they were announcing the seniors favorite memories, Liam’s was how he never has scored a varsity goal before. Shortly after he got to score his first varsity goal.”

The next boys’ game will be held at home against Edgewood at 6 p.m., being the Cape Coast Conference playoff game.
