The Purrfections dance team has been invited to perform their routine at the halftime show at the FBC Mortgage Stadium at UCF on Nov 11. 

“Last year was the first year we performed at the UCF halftime show,” Purrfections coach Stephanie Griffin said. “This, however, is not our biggest performance, which was back in 2018 at Camping World Stadium in front of 60,000 people.”

The first time the Purrfections performed at the UCF stadium was an uplifting experience, according to sophomore Cora Pearson. 

“Last year was a lot of fun,” Pearson said. “It was my first time going, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was an overall pretty positive experience.”

The JV cheerleading team will be joining the dance team in performing at the halftime show. 

“JV cheer and the Purrfections have practice every Monday,” Griffin said. “We have spent the majority of these joint practices and solo practices to prepare for this opportunity.”

The teams will be attending along with numerous other dance and cheer teams in the state.

“There is expected to be over 400 cheerleaders and dancers throughout the state of Florida in attendance,” Griffin said. “I do know that Southwest Middle School’s cheer team will be there as well.”

Pearson said the dance team is ready and enthusiastic to perform.

“Last year, the team got on that big screen they use in the stadium, so that was really cool,” Pearson said. “I think I’m more prepared for it this year since I’ve done it before. I am super excited to do it again.”
