Girls’ varsity basketball team starts season with loss to Edgewood

Freshman Adriah Mossiah scored 15 points in a 54–26 loss in the girls’ varsity basketball game against Edgewood on Nov. 30.

“I did well at getting to my spots and taking the shots and not forcing it,” Mossiah said. “As a team, even though we were losing by a lot in the first half, we gathered and did way better in the second half.”

The Lady Wildcats were down 38–13 at halftime.

“As a team, we need to keep refining ourselves,” Mossiah said. “I learned from the Edgewood team to really stop their good players.”

This game marks the first game of the season.

“What we learned from our first game is that we have the heart and hustle to compete with any team,” Head Coach Hugh Bain said. “We just need to better protect the ball and relax.”

The Lady Wildcats will travel to Edgewood to have a rematch against their rivals Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.

“All of our players have this ‘never say die, never quit’ attitude,” Bain said. “Each one of the players owns that, and it’s awesome to see it in action.”
