The girls’ lacrosse team defeated Cocoa Beach 8–3 on Senior Night on April 4.
“The game really made me appreciate my teammates, and I was sad when I realized that the season was so close to being over,” senior Addy Carroll said.
Carroll has been on the girls’ team for one year but said she learned so much and enjoyed encouraging her teammates.
“I would say the best attribute to the team is positivity and encouragement,” Carroll said. “As a first-year [player], I know that my skill isn’t the best on the team, but I love cheering on my teammates and having a fun environment for practice.”
Senior Kiera Runske has been a player on the team for four years and shared her techniques and education of the sport with the other players.
“I try to encourage and motivate all of my teammates every day and give them as much knowledge as I can from all of my years of lacrosse experience,” Runske said. “I’m trying to help out the younger girls and set them up for success for the next few years.”
Carroll said she has gotten a lot of help from her team in learning the sport.
“My coaches and teammates have been awesome and super helpful in accustoming me to the sport and learning the game,” Carroll said. “They are always positive, encouraging and genuinely want everyone to do their best and have a good time.”
Runske said the Senior Night game was emotional for her. The girls’ next game is against Edgewood on April 15 at 7 p.m. for districts semi-finals.
“I am very sad to be leaving, but I’m trying to make the most of these last practices and games,” Runske said.
