Sophomore Eric Yang begins preparations for his trip to China this summer to compete in the J60 Anning tournament at Hotspring Peninsula Tennis center, where he looks to boost his ranking in tennis.
“I expect to hopefully increase my experience in tournaments and get better at playing at such a high level,” Yang said. “It will be the first time I play in that huge of an arena and knowing I’m playing the best 18U players in the world makes me nervous, but I believe I belong in that category.”
Yang will compete in the best-of-32 International Tennis Federation event from June 4-9 to take his first step towards pursuing a professional career in the sport.
“This is a great opportunity for Eric to show his skills and actually be seen by the tennis community,” sophomore and varsity tennis player Giorgio Rotolo said. “He plays like a professional, and every time I would watch him play at practices or matches, I was impressed.”
