Cross-country to compete in its first Cape Coast meet
October 20, 2017
Cross-country is participating in a Cape Coast Conference meet for the first time this weekend at Palm Bay Regional Park. The Wildcats will compete against the 14 Brevard County high schools, including the team’s biggest rival: Edgewood.
West Shore recently joined the Cape Conference after years of being independent. Sophomore Jonelle Plahuta elaborated on what she believes this meet will be like.
“I’m hoping to place in the top 20 this meet,” Plahuta said. “There is a lot of good competition, and if I can do that it will be a huge confidence booster for districts the following week.”
Plahuta said she’s sticking to her normal routine before the meet.
“The transition to CCC doesn’t really affect the way we have been running as compared to meets in the past,” Plahuta said. “The way I see it is just like a normal season race that will help us prepare for the competition we will see in the postseason races.”
