Space Coast U-16 girls’ soccer prepares for May tournament

Since the Space Coast U-16 girls soccer team was recently eliminated from State Cup competition, members are resorting to playing scrimmages and in tournaments until next fall. The next tournament they will be participating in is the U.S. Club Regional/National Soccer tournament.

“ I think we’ll have a good chance at winning, since all the really good teams are still in State Cup,” Melbourne High School freshman Taylor Eller said.  The tournament will be held in Vero Beach on May 28 to May 30 at the Hobart Soccer Complex.

If the girls win in Vero Beach they will have the opportunity to move on to compete in National Cup X Finals in Boise, Idaho on July 29 to Aug. 1 where the national champions will be crowned.

“I’m excited because if we win then we’ll be able travel to another state to compete at a national tournament,” West Shore High School sophomore Erin Berube said.
