SGA Winter Banquet to be held at Makoto’s

Student Government Association will be holding its winter banquet at Makoto’s Japanese Steakhouse on Jan. 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“In the past we have held a banquet at Makoto’s and another in the cafeteria,” SGA President Bianca Taraschi said. “We felt that it is better to have it at a formal restaurant where people can get dressed up and have a nice meal prepared for them, so we decided to go back to Makoto’s this year.”

Members will be acknowledged for their participation in Student Government.

“[The banquet] is a way for SGA to appreciate the seniors before they graduate, and appreciate the enitre group for all they’ve done,” SGA sponsor Robert Sarver said. “In addition, those who worked exceptionally hard this year will receive an individual award.”

While admission to the event will be subsidized with Student Government’s funds,  members must pay $5 to offset the expense.

“By charging people to attend, we are able to see how many people are going to be there in advance,” Sarver said.
