Satellite rallies to top boys’ lacrossse

Freshman Austin Altevogt scored the first of three West Shore goals but the Wildcats fell to Satellite 12-3 in a boys’ lacrosse match Tuesday night.

“When the referee blew the whistle we came out hard, Ian (Chan) won the faceoff and we both went running down the field,” Altevogt said.  “The defense slid over to pick him up so I was open and received the ball. The defense started to run toward me and I roll-dodged and shot the ball for a point.”

With the Wildcats up early, Satellite picked up its game and responded with 9 points in the first half. The boys agree that their first half was not as strong as their second during which they held the Scorpions to three goals.

“ Although some of the players gave up I really wanted to score, and I did with only a few minutes left in the game,” Chan, a junior, said. “Satellite plays dirty and hits hard, but I don’t think that that affected our game that much. I think it was because we are just coming back from Spring Break.”
