Entering the 2012- 2013 school year, social studies teacher Bob Sarver will add middle school Student Government to his list of duties. Sarver will continue to sponsor the high school Student Government Association as well.

The change is being made because the current middle school SGA leader Christine Clark, also a social studies teacher, has decided to not run the club anymore because of an increase in other responsibilities.

Sarver, who sponsored middle school SGA prior to this year, decided to return to the position because he says he can designate high-school leaders he’s developed throughout the years to mentor the younger students in next year’s middle-school SGA.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Sarver said, “but seriously time-consuming.”

Assistant Principal Jim Melia said Sarver deserves the position because he puts in a lot of time and effort into making all the SGA events great. Melia also said Sarver is a role model and leader for the students.

“He has been very successful in helping develop leaders, and one of the things he is [going to] do next year is have the leaders he has developed start working with the middle school Student Government kids and develop them as leaders,” Melia said. “So when you develop leaders that’s pretty good, but when you develop leaders that develop leaders, that’s incredible.”
