Regional science winners going to new fair

First-place winners from the Brevard Regional Science Fair will travel to Orlando to participate in the Orlando Science Center’s Science Challenge on March 16. Science Challenge is another science fair competition, consisting of first-place winners from various central Florida counties.

“This competition is really beneficial to participants,” science research teacher Mary Anderson said. “All of the awards are cash or scholarship prizes, and it helps to prepare the students for State Science Fair.”

State Science Fair will be held during spring break, and all participants going to Science Challenge also will be attending State.

“I’m very optimistic for the award ceremony on Saturday,” Anderson said. “I’m sure the students will do well representing West Shore.”

Science Research Paula Ladd also appears optimistic for the competition.

“West Shore researchers have been participating in this competition for years,” she said. “And I’m sure this year, as in those past, they will do great.”

The following students placed first at the regional science fair in February.
Srimayi Tenali – Chemistry
Michael Thomas – Engineering
Margarita Cruz-Sanchez – Environmental
Rashad Abdulla – Math
