Purrfections to perform before Nationals

The dance season is drawing to a close and the national competition is weeks away. The  Purrfections dance team has learned and prepared three routines to bring to the competition. Before leaving, however, the dancers will perform for the last time at a lacrosse game Tuesday.

“We will be doing our competition hip hop routine,” co-captain Kathryn Carrick (12) said. “The game will help us finish preparing for Nationals because we have never done this particular dance in front of an audience before.”

Nationals are held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. The team has competed at Nationals for the past five years. Last year, it was named national champions for its pom dance.

“The varsity girls have been really busy trying to clean all three of their routines before they go to compete,” JV dancer Hunter Delaney (9) said. “I can not wait to see the results, and I hope they do well.”

This season will be the first for them to be competing in hip hop.

“By performing on Tuesday, I hope we can become more comfortable with the routine and get some nerves out before Nationals,” Carrick said. “We are-super excited to debut our first competition hip hop routine.”
